The August 23, 2016 show focused on the questions:
Are You Prepared
To Help? Would You?
Are You Truly Prepared?
If you answered no, Will asks are you actually prepared? Really?
Think about it, if you look at history, all of the written history that we know, tell me how often and the last time that WROL or TEATOWAKI occurred in the USA in the past 400 years. Right, local or regionalized, temporary (under 3 months): The Civil War, Mississippi River ran backward after New Madrid Earthquake in 1812, 9/11/2001 New York City World Trade Center attack occurred. Not much there? There were some weather related and earthquake incidents like the Oakland earthquake and others, but all were temporal moments in time and the people were assisted by the rest of the nation.
TEATOWAKI events are based on the premise of a catastrophic event so devastating that “no one is coming” to help. These would be long term widespread EMP induced power grid down incidents, nuclear and biological events for example. Again although these things have happened none have risen to a level that was not very localized.
That point made, Will argues that if you want to prove the value to your being prepared, then you should be prepared for what happens all of the time; flood, hurricane, wildfires, civil unrest, etc. Survival situations occur around you every day. It is how well prepared that you are mentally, your skills, gear and how practiced you are that will determine the way that it works out for you.
What if your loved one suffers a severe injury, stroke, heart attack or chokes in your presence? Do you know what to do? Will you stand there and watch them die? Will you run away to find help as they take their last breath? If you are not trained and able to help, then you are not prepared. Stop playing around, either get to it and learn or go back to your Xbox and stop playing survivalist. Get training, join a group, volunteer with the Red Cross, United Way or you local fire company or ambulance squad, pay attention to what is happening around you, become aware, situational awareness is critical.
It won’t happen in a moment it takes time, but if you start now you will still be better than you are now.
