It is that time of year again. While fire always poses a threat to our way of life and safety, this time of year with the combined conditions of high wind gusts and excessive tinder (mostly dry), there is a heightened level of threat of wildfire.
Below is the latest official warning regarding the risks:
High fire danger means all fine dead fuels ignite readily and fires start easily from most causes. Unattended brush and camp fires are likely to escape. Fires spread rapidly and short distance spotting is common. Fires may become serious and their control difficult unless they are attacked successfully while small.
Remember, you can reduce those risks by observing the general rules of creating a “ring of protection” around your home. Remove dead leaves, reduce or eliminate flammable debris and other flammables from proximity of your domicile.
California has developed a very robust set of tools to help homeowners and businesses to protect their properties from wildfires.
